Xplor-ing with Mark Beaumont, explorer extraordinaire!

Xplore's latest adventure was to The Corran Halls to hear from Scottish explorer Mark Beaumont.
Having described his cycles around the world, north to south of the Americas and all over Europe, the intrepid one went on to share his experiences rowing in the Arctic and death-defyingly in the Atlantic.
Mark's story was both challenging and inspiring, and he's only 28!
Goodness knows what tales he'll tell when he's 70!

H2O Friendship Club welcome OHS Masterchefs for a 'Gourmet Afternoon'

The H2O Friendship Club has recently welcomed some extremely talented and culinarily creative pupils from the Home Economics Department of Oban High School. Five pupils gave an on-screen presention of 'healthy eating options for the over 60s' to the group followed by on-the-spot demonstrations of how and what some of those options might be. The afternoon concluded with 'options' being shared around and receiving great approval. Thank you Masterchefs!
Over the coming weeks, the H2O Friendship Club will experience quizzes, poems and look toward the Easter season.

All a bit of a drama at GFG

Tuesday night group GFG have gone all theatrical over the past couple of weeks. The group are rehearsing to take part in the Oban High School Easter Assemblies, performing a mime to music. The piece which uses music from the band Lifehouse, portrays a very focussed life-journey of a girl and her life-saving encounters with Jesus. The group have been supported by the GFG video and photo team, and all involved are very excited. If all goes well, GFG will perform in front of their peers 4 times towards the end of term. Well done so far team!

A night at the movies for young folks from the Islands

A monthly regular in the H2O diary is a big-screen film night at The Well for young folk from Coll, Colonsay, Easdale, Iona, Lismore and the Ross of Mull who live through the week at Glencruitten Hostel. Hot chocolate and marshmallows accompanied the viewing of The Truman Show for the 15 guests.
As spring and hopefully summer approaches, it is hoped to get outdoors more, actively working with Stramash, local outdoor activity provider and developing some big scale craft activities for the developing garden area of the hostel. As ever - watch this space for updates!

H2O and the OHS Chaplaincy Team welcome Gideons

The H2O Youth Workers and other members of the Oban High School Chaplaincy team recently accompanied Ron and Pauline Thwaites from Gideons International, as they spent time with S1 pupils. Clan tutor classes heard a little of the work of the Gideons and were given the opportunity to receive their own copy of the New Testament and Psalms from the visitors.
