Well woven together at Glencruitten Hostel

Willow Weaving with Tara

Young folk from Glencruitten School Hostel have entered the world of Willow weaving. The first introductory session was led by the talented Tara Coia, Learning and Events Officer from Dunollie House. Within no time, lengths of willow became globes and cats and fish and all sorts. This is the first in a series of sessions with Tara which will continue after the summer break. The current plan is to hone willow weaving skills to create models and structures to adorn the currently undecorated garden area alongside plant and vegetable developments. Many thanks go to Tara for her availablilty and enthusiasm to share her talents. Watch this space for updates!
A happy willow weaver!

Elevate Dance Team visit Oban

Elevate Contemporary Dance Troupe with Rachel and Ruth from H2O.
Hope 2 Oban recently hosted Elevate, who performed at the Rockfield Primary School Campus in Oban.
Presenting a plethora of dance styles the group of ten dancers took the audience through every emotion and interspersed their art with personal stories of their Christian faith.

GFG get on their bikes!

Getting ready for the off!

To raise funds for their planned September Island Adventure, GFG group members cycled 10 miles from Sutherland's Grove around Loch Creran and back, narrowly avoiding  big black clouds and a bit of a thunder storm (sadly, not the midges at Sutherland's Grove). Well done all, and particularly one young man who has only recently learned to cycle. GFG would like to give a great big thank you to all who have sponsored them to do the cycle and a particular thank you to Fred and Irene Sims who hosted our after-cycle BBQ.
With a target of around £2,000 to be raised we still have some way to go, but all concerned are having some great fun on the way!
On the Road!
Finished!

Post-cycle, post BBQ!

Changed lives on the Western Front

Vimy Ridge Monument
H2O youth worker Ewen Munro recently had the privilege for joining Oban High School's 11th Oban Pals Battalion on a life-chaning visit to Belgium, France and Canada.
The group of forty pupils and four staff were guide through the battlefields around the north and south of Ypres and the Somme by knowledgable tour guide Nicola and driver extraordinaire Paul.
Time around the Somme included visits to 'Canada' at Newfoundland Park, Beaumont Hammel, and the magnificent Vimy Ridge monument.
True life-stories from the trenches including that of the youngest and oldest soldiers, the brothers, the father and son, all making the ultimate sacrifice, all leaving loved ones at home.
The 11th Oban Pals were asked rhetorically, "how long should we remember?" and by the end of the experience all had a deeper understanding of just how important a question that is.
