DeKanwiz (or Xplore as we used to be called!) say goodbye to Justin at 2 Lochs Project

It was a happy but sad evening as the ex-plorer,s or DeKanwizers as we are now known, said goodbye to Justin Richards at Kinlochleven's 2 Lochs Project.
Over the last few years, H2O have joined with Justin and the 'guys' up there for many events, in Oban, Dunoon, on Luing and around Kinlochleven.
We would like to wish Justin all our best wishes as he moves on to teacher training in Glasgow, and look forward to continued links with those young folks 'up north'.

Gorge Walking at Sutherland's Grove - Such Fun!

Just when you think life is calming down, some clever so-and-so suggests a session of Stamash-led gorge walking, with young folk from Glencruitten Hostel. So off we went (Ewen in tow) into fairly stroppy water....quite high, but very good fun. S6 young leaders from the pre-summer training had the opportunity to practice their newly honed skills alongside S1 and S2 pupils as the group snaked its way through rocks and fast-flowing water.
This was the first in a series of four sessions with younger pupils, coordinated by H2O, delivered by Stramash and made possible through funding for H2O from BBC Children in Need.

H2O and a Busy Summer Time Around the Country

EXP 13 at Benmore House by Dunoon

The youth work team have had a busy summer all round the country.
Rachel and Ewen spent time with the SSC in 'the field' at Struan in Perthshire for 'Advance Guard' and 'Camp 1' joining young folks from all over Scotland.

Next it was closer to home for Ewen, as he joined youth leaders from Dunoon, Edinburgh, Islay, Paisley and Minnesota for EXP 13, based at Benmore House by Dunoon.
EXP is a week-long opportunity for forty-two young folk to enjoy sport, music, craft and outdoor activities alongside space to discover more about Jesus and His life, as well as take time out to serve others in the local community, learning first aid skills, tending a community walled garden and playing indoor bowls with elderly folk.

Towards the end of July, Rachel and three young folk headed south for Soul Survivor (ably supported by Mr and Master Smith). Based in Stafford, Soul Survivor brings together thousands of young folk with a passion to find out more about Jesus in a setting that provides for a jolly good time all round. With splendid weather and a lot of fun, the team returned to Oban buzzing and hope to continue meeting together regularly.(but not in a tent!)
